SmarterMail and Exchange
SmarterMail and Exchange are the only two email servers on the market that offer native MAPI support, and SmarterMail is the only Linux mail server to support MAPI! While other mail servers claim to have Exchange functionality, they rely on third-party plug-ins or other additional software that mimics some, but not all, features of Exchange. Plug-ins can be buggy and unstable, they don't offer complete Outlook integration and functionality, and they require additional management and administration. Native support for the protocols that make Exchange "Exchange" is the only way to go.
Outlook on Any Platform
With a native implementation of MAPI over HTTP and Exchange Web Services (EWS), SmarterMail can be used with Microsoft Outlook on both Windows computers as well as Macs, giving users on both platforms Exchange features and functionality.

Outlook Compatibility
SmarterMail is compatible with current versions of Microsoft Outlook for Windows and Mac. Older versions of Outlook, unfortunately, offer very limited Exchange functionality for Outlook. Supported versions include:
- Outlook 2021
- Outlook 2019
- Outlook 2016
- Outlook for Microsoft 365 (Office)
- Outlook for Mac
NOTE: Due to changes Microsoft is making to the "New Outlook", it no longer supports adding accounts from on-premise Exchange servers. As a result, it does not work with SmarterMail.
