SmarterMail 16.x Sneak Peek

Over the last few months we've been working feverishly on SmarterMail's next major version, SmarterMail 16.x. We've teased some of the changes on our Facebook and Twitter pages and released interface mockups to the Focus Group members of our Community. We also displayed a working demo of SmarterMail at the World Hosting Days conference, where the new design received substantially positive reviews.

Well, we're finally at the point where we can share more details and screenshots to ALL SmarterMail users! We're excited with the direction our products are going and would love to share that excitement with you.

Without further ado, preview the designs for our latest and greatest secure mail server software, SmarterMail 16.x!

One of our main goals with this redesign was to ensure all portions of the interface were more user-friendly, touch compatible and responsive across desktop, tablet and mobile alike, making the information look essentially the same across a number of different screen sizes.

For mobile, we aimed to retain the exact functionality that is available on desktop. With faster page loads and less data usage required, the mobile interface will be ideal for situations where you're using a friend's device or a tablet that you don't normally use. In addition, SmarterMail will continue to support industry-standard synchronization protocols as well, such as Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, CalDAV, CardDAV, etc., which can be used with mail clients on iOS, Android, Windows and more.

Upcoming Release Dates

As of now, you can expect to see the BETA of SmarterMail 16.x late in the third quarter or early in the fourth.

In addition to the product redesign, we've expanded our robust API to include all aspects of the program so that SmarterMail runs essentially as a single page! With this change, the business logic (that is, all of the programming that tells SmarterMail what to do and display and when to do it and display it) is now included on the back-end and behind the API, making the interface display-oriented only, and in turn, more reliable and much more secure.

Another benefit of having a completely API-driven product? Anyone with the ability and vision will be able to create their own email client or develop virtually any type of integration with SmarterMail. The sky's the limit!

We're very excited with the changes on the horizon. Take a look at the screenshots above, and tell us what you think in the comments!
