Applies to: SmarterMail 4.x using ClamAV 0.93.1
If the clamd.exe process is enabled from within the SmarterMail webmail interface and it is stopping/crashing and does not appear in the Windows Server 2003 Task Manager Process list, log in as the System Administrator and check the Notifications tab, if there is a Warning, click the "Click here" to read the warning. If the warning states "ClamAV was automatically restarted due to several consecutive failures" then follow these instructions to resolve the issue.
- Log into the SmarterMail server
- Use the Windows Explorer
- Go to:
c:\program files\smartertools\smartermail\Service\clam\etc
- Delete the clamd.conf
If the clamd.exe process still does not show up in the Task Manager Process list then do the following:
- Use the Windows Explorer
- Go to:
c:\program files\smartertools\smartermail\Service\clam\etc
- Open the clamd.conf with Notepad and delete the following lines
- ArchiveMaxFileSize 5M
- ArchiveMaxRecursion 8
- ArchiveMaxFiles 500
- ArchiveBlockEncrypted no
- Save the file
