How to - Activate SmarterTrack

Applies to: SmarterTrack 3.x

After SmarterTrack is downloaded and installed, the software will need be to activated.

  1.  Log in to SmarterTrack web interface as the System Administrator
    1. Default log in:
      1. Username: admin
      2. Password: admin
  2. Select the Settings Menu (Product must be activated in order to create agents.)
  3. Select the Activation folder
  4. Select the Product Activation link
  5. Select the Activate Key (icon menu (in the main area))
  6. Enter the License key
  7. Select Next (icon menu)
  8. Enter an E-mail address and password  Note: This email address and password needs to be associated with your SmarterTools account. 
  9. Select Activate Now (icon menu)
  10. A successful activation will provide a similar response to the one below depending on the type of license you purchase.

    Thank you for activating SmarterTrack. The license information can be found below:

Other tips & tricks to check for if activation is unsuccessful:
  1. Check and make sure that outbound port 443 (https) is not blocked
  2. You may also need to add https://www.smartertools.com/ to the list of trusted sites in Internet Explorer.
  3. Confirm that the version you are trying to activate is associated with the same license key version. 
  4. Make sure the system clock is set to the correct time and date.
  5. If you use IIS to host your product, ensure that the Network Service user has permissions over the C:\Windows\Temp folder.  A temporary activation file is generated there.

    If you are unsuccessful in activating your SmarterTrack product please contact SmarterTools at 623.434.8050.  You can also use a support ticket that came with the original purchase of SmarterTrack, which will be refunded as long as it is an activation issue.
