After SmarterTrack is downloaded and installed, the software will need be to activated.
- Log in to SmarterTrack web interface as the System Administrator
- Default log in:
- Username: admin
- Password: admin
- Select the Settings Menu (Product must be activated in order to create agents.)
- Select the Activation folder
- Select the Product Activation link
- Select the Activate Key (icon menu (in the main area))
- Enter the License key
- Select Next (icon menu)
- Enter an E-mail address and password Note: This email address and password needs to be associated with your SmarterTools account.
- Select Activate Now (icon menu)
- A successful activation will provide a similar response to the one below depending on the type of license you purchase.

Other tips & tricks to check for if activation is unsuccessful:
- Check and make sure that outbound port 443 (https) is not blocked
- You may also need to add https://www.smartertools.com/ to the list of trusted sites in Internet Explorer.
- Confirm that the version you are trying to activate is associated with the same license key version.
- Make sure the system clock is set to the correct time and date.
- If you use IIS to host your product, ensure that the Network Service user has permissions over the C:\Windows\Temp folder. A temporary activation file is generated there.
If you are unsuccessful in activating your SmarterTrack product please contact SmarterTools at 623.434.8050. You can also use a support ticket that came with the original purchase of SmarterTrack, which will be refunded as long as it is an activation issue.
