Software affected: SmarterTicket 2.x
Symptoms
The included web server should be stopped when you setup SmarterTicket under IIS. Occasionally, the following problem has been known to happen when you go to Start -> Program Files -> SmarterTools -> SmarterTicket -> Configure SmarterTicket Web Server.
When attempting to follow the instructions in the online help to stop the SmarterTicket Web Server, you get the following error message:
There was an error trying to stop the service STWebSvr
Resolution
Manually stop and disable the service by following these steps:
Go into your control panel
Go to Administrative Tools
Choose Services
Find the ST Web Server in the list
Right click it and choose properties
Change Startup Type to disabled
Click Apply
Click Stop
Click OK
The only difference with this approach is that when an upgrade is installed of SmarterTicket, the service could start up again, and you'd have to repeat this process.
