How To - Configuring Trend Micro ServerProtect

Applies to: SmarterMail (all versions) 

Set up Trend Micro in the following way:

  1. Click Set Scan Option tab
  2. Check Enable Real-time scan
  3. Scan direction = Incoming
  4. Scan file type = All
  5. Scan options (leave at default)
  6. Scan compressed files = Checked
  7. Scan level = 5
  8. Advanced settings -> Leave default
  9. Click on Set Action
  10. Leave everything at defaults except the settings below:
  11. Customize scan actions - Set both to Quarantine (the second action for each should gray out)
  12. Set a quarantine directory and write it down
  13. Check the "Exclude this directory" checkbox below it.
  14. Scan type to be applied = real time scan
  15. Click on Apply
  16. Click on Apply

Set up SmarterMail 1.x and 2.x in the following way:

  1. Log in as the System Admin
  2. Go into Anti-Virus Administration
  3. Check the "Virus scanner enabled" box
  4. Enter the full path to the quarantine directory you specified in 9.3 above
  5. Change virus action to Delete and save
  6. Go into General Settings
  7. Change delivery delay to 20 seconds for a low-medium load server, 30 seconds for a high load server.

Set up SmarterMail 3.x, and above, in the following way:

  1. Log in as the System Admin
  2. Go into Anti-Virus Administration
  3. Check Virus scanner stores files in a quarantine folder
  4. Enter the full path to the quarantine directory you specified in 9.3 above
  5. Change virus action to Delete and Save
  6. Go to General Settings and Spool tab
  7. Change delivery delay to 15 seconds for a low-medium load server, 30 seconds for a high load server
