  • Enhanced spam blocking

I've been trying to figure out how to enhance my spam blocking beyond the standard configuration. At one point I was able to add words and phrases to a list of filters, but can't figure out how I did it anymore. Can anyone provide advice to a non-sophisticated user about how to go about this...

  • Inquiry regarding SpamAssassin and commands within SM interface

I'm just curious as to what extent SmarterMail and SpamAssassin work together? So far SA seems to be doing its job. I have, however, noticed a couple of emails that have been moved to the junk folder that I would prefer not to go there anymore. If we use the "Unmark as Spam" command in teh user interface...

  • Re: SM4: Abuse Detection and Spam Protection recommended settings

Hi there, If I understand the summary in http://forums.smartertools.com/forums/thread/26138.aspx correctly, then we should turn off features like Bayesian Filtering and RBL if you use Spam Assassin. Is that correctly understood? /jp

  • work-around: no content filtering bounce or autoresponder (auto-responder) when catchall (catch-all) alias forwards message to email (e-mail) user account

I encountered the following problem and decided to post my work-around solution here in case anyone else needs it. (The redundant spellings in the subject should help people find the message using different search keywords.) BACKGROUND: I previously used a catch-all alias with extensive content filtering...

Hi Dave, I am very happy that you are sharing your settings. I can tell that you have put a lot of thought into it. Thanks for that! My business partner is not the only one I send out emails on behalf of, so I would not be comfortable using their mailserver to send out all of my emails. But I think I...

  • Re: SM4: Abuse Detection and Spam Protection recommended settings

Hi Dave, Thanks for the cool input! I will try out your settings. I turned on Greylisting last night, and as far as I can tell I haven't recieved a single SPAM message since then. I am monitoring it, and need to see if any good mails are lost. It hasn't been on long enough for me to get reports from...

Just upgraded to SM4 this evening. Had been running SM3 for about a year. Our SPAM settings with SM3 were pretty good with about 86% of all mail sent at the server being deleted/rejected as SPAM. Kept our settings the same afterr the upgrade and turned on both SpamAssassin and GreyListing. We host 27...

  • Free spam and AV gateway

I have been following the threads about SPAM for a couple of years now and could never find a really good (inexpensive) solution. I have finally implemented what I believe to be the ultimate SPAM and Virus killer, and it is 100% Free. Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 Enterprise FreeBSD 6.1 ISO disk 1...
