    Problems with Blackberry

    Hi Guys,

I am unable to access the web based Email using a Blackberry Bold model 9000. I spoke with BlackBerry Tech Support.

I was using the BlackBerry Browser v4.6.0.  We tried Internet Explorer and had no better results.  We then tried Firefox.

With Firefox I was able to login BUT was unable to see any Emails. I clicked on “Help” and was able to access the Help information.

BlackBerry Tech believes that the problem may be SSL encryption and suggests that the SmaterMail program may be the source of the problem.  They said that the BlackBerry browser is not a “full html” browser, whatever that means. They also suggested trying yet another browser, so I also tried Opera & Safari... but I have not been able to install either of these!

Windows 2008, Plesk 8, using IIS 7 for web based email, Smartermail web server is disabled, Smartermail 5.5.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards...

Right now SM doesn't support mobile, or WAP browsers, I don't believe.

I would contact sales@smartertools.com to make sure though.

    Re: Problems with Blackberry

I have a similar problem - I can retrieve emails to my mobile by logging into the POP3 box using the same username and password I would through webmail, but I can't get them to SEND.

I can send through my mobile operator's server, but I think it's because my phone isn't doing a receive before its send to authenticate.

If anyone has any suggestions to solutions, I'd be greatful!Big Smile

This is correct however many Mobile browsers are now supporting or have addon support for flash and javascript which will allow it to work (ie Opera Mobile for windows with the Flash addon)

As for not being able to send through the client... Ask your administrator what the alternate SMTP port is and use that. Also make sure you have setup Authentication. Your administrator should be able to provide the details.
