Barracuda make their BBL available for free

    Barracuda Reputation Block List (BRBL)

Starting in September 2008, Barracuda Networks introduced the Barracuda Reputation Block List (BRBL – pronounced "bahr-bel") as a free DNSBL of IP addresses known to send spam. Barracuda Networks fights spam and created the BRBL to help stop the spread of spam.

If you are interested in using or supporting the BRBL, please let us know: Request AccessFeedback

The BRBL is open to public and can be used within reason. Barracuda Networks is currently making this service available free of charge and we hope to keep it that way. Barracuda Networks does require free registration to gain access to the DNSBL. If you would like to register, please click here

Registration is simple and immediate. Please note that this service is provided free of charge, therefore Barracuda Networks reserves the right to refuse service to spammers, competitors and other parties at the company's discretion. This service is provided as is with no warranty of any kind.

I am using total 4 RBLs; spamcop, spamhaus (zen), surriel & barracuda.

Here is the performance for the last day.

If you see a fraction of it then you will noticed that barracuda is catching more of spam then all others.

Thsi is realy great or I would say it is very aggressive but I have to say that spamhaus is a real disappointment.

    Hi,

have u seen any false alerts from barracuda so far?

Also can u post the exact settings to be incorporated on our RBL Settings in SM? e.g. what  is the exact name [2.0.0.127.b.barracudacentral.org & what weight u give for the same]

    Thanks in Advance

    Thanks & Regards,

Its just b.barracudacentral.org (dont forget to registered).

I used all rbls at incoming blocking level and assigned high enough score to delete the message at smtp filtering level (smtp blocking enabled for incoming).

Temporarily I have reduced the score of barracuda rbl as its very aggressive and I havent went office from a week so I havent tested any false positives.

    Hi,

I've incorporated b.barracudacentral.org with weight as 35 now since last three days,

now my question is that which reports will show me the actions performed by barracuda & the score of spam controlled by barracuda?

    thanks for help

    Thanks & Regards,

in v4 I have no separate option to track it, all i do is to see the statistics (dashboard) for incoming blocked mails.

hi, we are using SM 5.5 entp edition, any idea to see which RBLs are actually working & how? You had shown some statistics in your previous post, so

Re: Barracuda make their BBL available for free

Azfar, this RBL seems to do very well in combination with my existing RBL's (Spamhaus Zen and PSBL), without significant false positives thus far!

    Thanks for the suggestion!

and as i stated I reviewed all my logs and did not find any entries like that. so just keep your jerky comments to yourself if you don't have any professional answers to give.
