automatically assume domain name on login

Is there a way to either setup a default domain so that when users try to login to smarter mail they only type the username without @domain.com ?

Even if there isn't a "default domain" to assume the default domain, is there a way to disable this so only one domain can be used?

If neither of the above is possible, is there a way to supply it automatically?

When logging into webmail, SmarterMail will try appending the hostname being used to the username entered. For example, logging into mail.smartertools.com with the user "test", it would attempt to login with test@smartertools.com.

When using POP or IMAP, if a domain is the only one configured on an IP address, it will automatically attempt to use that domain name.

I'm not sure I understand exactly, but I'm trying to use smartermail's webmail.  Maybe I just dont have it setup correctly.. but right now I'm just using localservername:port ...

I want people to be able to use first.lastname without a domain (because it is local only).  The e-mail domain is elsewhere but the replyto addresses will be what they are used to seeing (first.last@domain.com.  The smartermail server will pop their mail from the same server that will relay their outbound messages.

What James means is that SM will try and use the domain of the webmail address by default. So if you can configure your server to access webmail through a proper domain (the domain you want as the default), instead of localhost, then it should do what you need.

well, right now the address being used is  http://servername.local-domain.local:9998  the domain name I'm using in smartermail is the local domain so http://localdomain.local wouldn't resolve properly... I'll have to see if that is something that is possible.... I think if you try to resolve that you will always get the windows server or whatever the DHCP server specifies... I'll have to see if http can be specified.
