    SmarterStats 4 - adding a site - server error in '/' application when trying to browse to folder

    I've just recently upgraded to SmaterStats 4 Professional Edition and I'm receiving the following error when adding a new site:

    When clicking on the 'browse' button to locate where IIS logs are located, the pop-up window lists the following error:

    Server Error in '/' Application.

    Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

    Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

    Source Error:
    An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below.

    Stack Trace:
     [NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.]   SSWeb.Admin.Popups.frmRemoteFileBrowser.SetupFolderBrowserTree() +35   SSWeb.Admin.Popups.frmRemoteFileBrowser.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) +75   System.Web.UI.Control.OnLoad(EventArgs e) +99   SSWeb.HelperClasses.CustomPage.OnLoad(EventArgs e) +45   System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() +47   System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) +1436

    Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.1433; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.1433

    When I run diagnostics all checks come back green. If I manually enter the log path I can submit the new site and logs are processed as normal.

    I'm running IIS6 on Windows 2003 Web Edition, SmarterStats is setup as an IIS site with its own Application Pool.

    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the reply.Yes v3.5 is installed.

    So far this is the only area of SmarterStats I have found that errors.  Are there any other areas of SmarterStats v4 (or SmarterMail v5.5) that uses .NET v3.5 so that I can rule out framework installation being the issue?

    Hello,

    I am having the same issue. .NET 3.5 is installed, SmarterStats site is set to use .NET 2.0 on its own application pool.

    SmarterStats was built on .net 3.5 so i would assume that if there was an issue with the installation of the framework then you would be receiving many more errors. SmarterMail v5.5 does not use .net 3.5.

    This might be a bug, can anyone from ST confirm this?

    Re: SmarterStats 4 - adding a site - server error in '/' application when trying to browse to folder

    I have submited a support ticket on this issue, two days ago.

    The answer was: "I am going to escalate this issue to get this resolved".

    So, they are working on it... Smile

    In the mean time you can enter/type in the paths and avoid "browse" clicking,- it worked for me.

    Re: SmarterStats 4 - adding a site - server error in '/' application when trying to browse to folder

    I have the same issue and I think I know the reason - when browsing for the logs SmartStats uses serverID=0 instead of serverID=1 .

    To replicate it try to browse to http://your.site.url/stats/Admin/Popups/frmRemoteFileBrowser.aspx?serverId=0 , now change the serverID to serverID=1 or whatever number SmartStats uses for your server ID and voila!

    Where is the servers ID stored? Is there a way to modify it?

    Re: SmarterStats 4 - adding a site - server error in '/' application when trying to browse to folder

    Hi folks, i really need help her, i get the following message when i try to view my website:

    Server Error in '/' Application.

    Runtime Error

    Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

    Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

    <!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

    <configuration>
        <system.web>
            <customErrors mode="Off"/>
        </system.web>
    </configuration>

    Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

    <!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

    <configuration>
        <system.web>
            <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
        </system.web>
    </configuration>

    I emaled my host and they sent me this:

    The exact error is

    Configuration Error
    Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

    Parser Error Message: Unrecognized element.

    Source Error:

    Line 65: <error statusCode="403" redirect="xxxxxxx.htm" />
    Line 66: <error statusCode="404" redirect="xxxxxxx.htm" />
    Line 67: </customErrors>
    Line 68: -->
    Line 69: <customErrors mode="off"/>

    Source File: D:\Domains\xxxxxx.com\wwwroot\web.config Line: 67

    i removed line 67 but i still get the same error, anyone know what i can do,this is driving me mad!!!!
