I think i read something about version 5.5 only working with framework 3.5, is this correct?

do I need to upgrade my framework or can it run under version 3.0, please advise...

 (it would be good to have this information on the "Requirements page" because I didnt see it there.

It will work fine. First they did that with 3.5, but 3.5 does not run on Windows 2000 server. So they took it out again. You will have no problems to run it under Framework 3.0.

Durring the 5.5 BETA we had moved to .NET 3.5.  So that we didn't affect SmarterMail 5.x customers on Windows 2000, we re-wrote areas that were using .NET 3.5 specific code to function properly under .NET 2.0... All 5.x releases will continue to run on .NET 2.0...   SmarterMail 6.x (long time from now) will be built on .NET 3.5 or higher.

So..Is there some benefit to using 3.5 over 2.0?  Do we gain features, speed improvement, or bells and whistles?

There are some optimizations in the newer framework but most of the benefit comes from the availability of new technologies such as Linq etc.  We can eliminate of code by utilizing new functionality and the end result will be better performance.  SmarterMail is one of the most efficient and powerful mail servers available on the Windows platform and taking advnages of some of the new features in the later frameworks will give us ways to even further increase performance.

Sorry, I wasn't clear.
I meant is there any benefit to using SM 5.5 with 3.0 or will it run the same with 2.0?
