    Questions About SmarterMail

    We are looking at this mail server to replace our way outdated email server we currently use (a very old version of Mailsite). But we have a couple of questions we hope someone can help with;

    1.)  Is this a very robust mail server, meaning can it handle a lot of mail messages and usage?

    2.) I assume it can be used both via the web-mail and with mail clients on the PC, right!

    3.) Since we use a billing solution that uses a command line to add users to the mail server does this support command line additions of user account?

    4.  What are some of the know issues of this mail server, and how stable/robust are the collaboration tools int he enterprise version?

    Any information is greatly appreciated, and thank you

    Greg

     1) Yes, but there may be some limitations due to your hardware.  Post your hardware specs and the volume you want your server to handle and we can give more input.

    2) Yes

     3) It supports web services, maybe you could use that?

    Re: Questions About SmarterMail

    We use windows 2000 server with 1GB ram, big drives and we have about 2000 email users, and we process about 500,000 email (in/out) daily.

    Are there any known issues with this server??  It seems that a lot of the features we really would not get a lot of use from as we just recently installed a Barracuda SMTP firewall.

    Your input is greatly appreciated.

    Version 5.5 may not be compatible with 2000.  It uses .NET Framework 3.5 which is not supported with 2000, and I haven't had time to test it.

     you're server is pretty dated. we had poor performance until we got bbwc battery backed write cache on our raid 5 setup...

    we are able to do 100k/hour easily... but we use 4.2.2.2 as our dns server now which did the trick too.

    We can move to 2003 server would that be better??

    Also what is 4.2.2.2 as DNS servers?  We use Microsoft DNS on a different server as our DNS.
