localhost Not available

    localhost Not available

    When I log on as admin, the server status shows me:
    "localhost Not available ? / ? / ? N/A N/A N/A"

    Plus, when I try to add a site and browse for the correct folder, I get the following error: "Unable to communicate with service to get folder list"

    The odd thing is that this started yesterday, after having applied a few patches from Microsoft. They released a few one or two days earlier.

    Any clues?

    Please help me out, for I have even reinstalled the software, all to no avail...

    In addition, the eventlog logs the following:

    System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted
    at System.Runtime.Remoting.Channels.Tcp.TcpServerChannel.StartListening(Object data)
    at System.Runtime.Remoting.Channels.Tcp.TcpServerChannel.SetupChannel()
    at System.Runtime.Remoting.Channels.Tcp.TcpServerChannel..ctor(IDictionary properties, IServerChannelSinkProvider sinkProvider)
    at System.Runtime.Remoting.Channels.Tcp.TcpChannel..ctor(IDictionary properties, IClientChannelSinkProvider clientSinkProvider, IServerChannelSinkProvider serverSinkProvider)
    at SStatSvc.Control.ServiceWorker.StartRemoting()
    at SStatSvc.Control.ServiceWorker.ServiceLifetimeFunction()

    It looks like either port 50003 is closed or in use by another application. You may want to try rebooting.

    Ports 50003 through 50010 are open and I have rebooted many times, all to no avail. I read almost all the posts here and did come to solutions as you described. Tried it, done that, didn't help... sorry.

    Zip up the following:

    C:\program files\smartertools\smarterstats\mrs\config\*.log
    C:\program files\smartertools\smarterstats\service\sssvc.log

    Also, please describe your issue in the email so the support person will know why you sent the logs. :)
