Is there someone who could look at my csv file for subscribers and tell what is wrong with it? I've gone through it several times. All I get when trying to up load the file is "Unable to import subscribers. The file is invalid." which is not helpful at all.

Smartermail does not like e-mail addresses with quotes.  I no, I no --  the CSV format spec is suppose to be happy with quotes, even when they are not required, but Smartermail does not seem to know this.  You can use a plain text editor to do a find and replace quotes with nothing.

Also, it sometimes takes a couple of upload tries before the file is accepted.

Thank you for your response. I entered some email addresses manually and then downloaded them and I noticed the first entry was "EmailAddresses". So I added that to the beginning of my file and it worked.

Good call JWSDev. I tried this but still got the same message back. After downloading however I noticed the first column is actually "EmailAddress", singular.. Wanted to point that out just so your thread was conclusive.

I am having this same problem with SmarterMail 6.6. I need to import, into a mailing list, a CSV file with over 2,000 email addresses. SmarterMail refuses to let me import the list. I've carefully combed through all of the addresses to find illegal characters, quotes, anything to which SmarterMail 6.6 might object. Apparently I am missing something.

I have also tried to create and import a small CSV file, with just a few addresses, but I have had no luck with that either. I get the same error message: "Unable to import subscribers. The file is invalid."

Has anybody heard of a workaround for this problem? I need to set up this large mailing list soon. Thanks for any advice.
