    Clam AV vs Real-Time AV

I'm a bit confused by the AV options in SM.

I understand Clam AV is working "out of the box", filtering incoming emails (I tested by sending an Eicar test virus).

What happens to mails with virus caught by Clam AV ?

Is the Real-Time AV another AV you could have installed on your server, like Avira Antivir with the "Guard" running ? (or is it another mode of clam AV ?)

What if both are selected ? (Clam AV + Real time) Is this good or bad ? What happens to virus mails then ?

    Thanks !

    They are deleted.

Correct. It allows for pretty much any other anti virus with a real-time scanning (scans files as they are read/written) to be used with SmarterMail. Generally, real time virus scanners place the viruses in a quaruntine directory.

It won't hurt anything other than the amount of CPU being consumed. It depends on which program gets to the email first. Clam would delete it, others would quaruntine it.
