Mail Spool

    Mail Spool

    I am having priblems with Smartermail and I have got mail in the spool which has being there for over 24hrs.

    There is an attachment of 1.5MB and the size of attachments allowed is larger then that.

    The time between retries is sorted out.

    Once the retries have being done what happens to the mail?

    I have also had mail coming in which I have seen in the spool, but it is not delivered to the relevant mail box and disappears from the spool, anyone got any suggestions this could be happening?

    Hello,

    Do you have logging enabled and the level set to detailed for your SmarterMail server?  The first place I would check for why mail is not being delivered is in the SMTP and delivery logs (usually housed in c:\SmarterMail\logs).  These will typically give you an idea as to why an email failed and needed to be retried.  The delivery logs in particular will let you know if an email successfully reached the inbox of your user.  A tool to parse these logs can be downloaded here:

    Another option to check is your anti-spam settings (although that would just delay and not remove the messages).  Are you checking mail when it is incoming and outgoing as this will also slow down the mail flow process.
