    Using non-standard SMTP server port

    I am using SmarterMail 5

I am attempting to use port 1025 for the SMTP server (I have another app using port 25 that forwards mail for this domain to port 1025)

I have configured the domain to use port 1025 and opened the port in the firewall.

When I telnet in to this domain at port 1025, I get a black screen (no response).

    Any Ideas as to why?

Run "netstat -abnp tcp" on the server. Make sure that MailService.exe is listening on port 1025.

     It is not.

    wininit.exe is listening to 1025, 17001 (IP 0.0.0.0)

mailservice.exe is listening to 110, 143, 389 (at the proper IP)

    What next?

Figure out why wininit.exe is using port 1025 and stop it from doing so. Once you do that, SmarterMail will be able to use it.
