    Email Reports not sending after upgrade to v.4

    None of my email reports are going out after upgrade to v4.  Everything worked fine in v3.  I check and reentered all email settings and ran some test reports, none were ever sent.  This morning, had no scheduled weekly reports.

    Running V4 Enterprise Version

    Is anyone having the same issue?  Is there a fix?

    Hi

    Have the same issue here. Also I created a report that should be emailed daily I never get an email. From our other SS 3.x Enterprise I get a daily report, but I did not succed till today to get one from SS 4.x Enterprise.

    Has somebody any ideas about this issue, does it work on other sites?

    Hello, I made it work. You have to manually go to each domain or website you are analizing and configure the smtp settings.

    But I have another problem now, I get empty reports. I do not know if it is because they are imported reports.

    I am having the same problem. I have created a custom report, and it displays properly and looks sharp. I can manually email this report.However, when I attempt to automatically enter this report, the date range is set from <current date> to <current date> and the report is empty. Is this the same problem that you are experiencing?

    This is an issue for which SmarterTools is aware.  We have an open trouble ticket addressing many email issues.  This and other issues all having to do with email are to be addressed in a release to be posted today (Aug 25, 2008) according to tech support.  So watch the download area for a new release.  I expect this will resolve this and other issues with mail.

    The latest version has shown some improvement, but this issue remains unresolved. The reports are now displaying, but they still are not correct. The date range of the report is still being defaulted from <current date> to <current date>.

    I was trying to stay possitive and helpful... I only ran a Daily report to check the body of the email which has been resolved.  Addtionally, if the server has valid SMTP settings they are no longer required in the site as well unless you want them sent from a different location. That issue was addressed.  The images are placed correctly in the body copy rather than attachments, with the exception of helpreport.gif.  My Daily report fired at 7:38 am which seem consistent.  Time before were all across the board.  Will compare to tomorrows Daily report.  I have a Weekly report qued and will hopefully get a correct date range and consistant send time.

    Bulbous, how were you able to get an automatic weekly report sent.  I would like to test that myself.  Thanks for the help...

    Thanks, you were very helpful. The download was there at the end of the day, just like you said.

    The problem I am having is that my daily reports have 7 days worth of data. I can generate these daily reports just fine, and I can manually email them just fine.

    However, when I go to have these reports automatically emailed, the date range is changed to reflect only the previous day's stats.

    Let me be clear about one thing... I am an end user like you and I am in no way associated with SmarterTools in case anyone got that idea.  We have an open trouble ticket on this items and will see if we can get some final resolutions.  Clearly having 7 days of stat info on a daily report is troubling.  Is anyone else having weird results using the Automatic Email reports?

    No, that's what I want. The daily report should have totals for the last 7 days. It does when I preview it, it does when I manually mail it, but when I add it to the automatic mailing list, it truncates to one day.

     I am attempting to duplicate this issue with a fresh install on another server. I'll find out the results tomorrow morning.

    It was my understanding that the daily report was for just single day report, but I could be wrong. Weekly is for a week of stats in a report and Monthly for well Monthly. Agian, I could be wrong, but that is how it has always worked for me.

     Can someone at SmarterTools can clarify this for us?

    Yes, the scheduled email reports have always worked that way.  I will add a feature request to allow for the custom reports default date range to be used instead.

    So, what you are saying is that the scheduled email reports refer to both the scope of the report as well as the frequency? That seems to be very short-sighted!

    So I cannot currently have a report with the last 7 days worth of data emailed to me every day? Pity.

    Seems like the SMTP settings are still required on every site. I installed the latest update last night for SmarterStats 4.x and I still have to set the SMTP settings on each site to send email reports otherwise I get "The from address in SMTP settings has not been set." in the Send to Email dialog box.

    Supposedly if you set the SMTP settings at the server level, that should be sufficient for sending email reports from each site. The software help states - The email report settings can be used to customize the email account from which email reports are sent. To use the default values set by your system administrator, leave the items on this page blank.

    I did that but I couldn't send email out without setting the SMTP settings at the site level.

    How did you get this working without setting SMTP settings for each site?

    Make sure you have installed the lastest edition of v.4  It was release late Monday, Aug 25.  If you have a version older than that installed, SMTP WAS required at the site level.  The new release resolved that issue for me.  Still having other small issues but the bulk of my problems were solved by this release.  Hope that helps...
