Error 503 not being logged in SMTP log (SmartMail 4.3)

    Error 503 not being logged in SMTP log (SmartMail 4.3)

    A number of people sending us emails report that their emails are being bounced with an error 503. No more information then that in the error.  We have no logged SMTP  transactions indicating that an error 503 was sent.

    When does SmartMail reject an incoming email with an error 503?  Why is that SMTP transaction not logged in the SMTP log (with detail set)?

    If there is no SMTP shown in the logs, then no SMTP connection was made.

    Something else is responding with 503.
