Are the System Requirements significantly different from version 2?

Besides .Net 2.0 being required, not really.  In fact, it should perform better and use fewer resources than Ticket 2.x.  If you use SQL 2005 or MySQL 5, you will see MUCH better performance than if you use SQL 2000 or MySQL 4, however.

Our business model for all of our products is to provide a free version that never expires but is limited to small environments (10 user mail, 1 agent ticket, 1 site stats).  I don't forsee this changing anytime in the near future, as it has worked very well for us and for our customers.

I have to say it is a good policy, because I know that when I was on the fence switching from imail to smarter mail it was nice to be able to setup a working test box.  I could get a real feel for the software and not have to worry about time constraints.  I have long since purchased the enterprise version, but it was still a nice feature and help close the sale in my case.

Keep up the good work and Thank you,

SmarterMail 5.x will be released for beta "early" February and SmarterTrack will follow "shortly - and i mean shortly" after that.

It's long hours at the office these days :)

Cool. Didn't know that Grady Werner was on the Board of Directors for SmarterTools. It's good to see an executive here in the trenches ... that is more likely to produce favorable results to us.

Re: Sneak Peek at the next SmarterTicket

Grady, I need to know (and I can't figure it out from this thread) if advanced email-retrieval features would be supported in SmarterTrack? Specifically, pulling emails from POP accounts that listen on alternate port, are using SSL, are using separate authentication then SMTP (although not common, it may happen) - also the same for outgoing mail (SMTP: ports, SSL, etc). This is important for me because we have outsourced our email to a provider that won't accommodate us at all with ports and SSL as far as POP/IMAP/SMTP (I know you also sell mail server, but it's not a good time for that change right now). Thanks!
