We have two Outlook 2007 users who's calendars must be shared and edited by 4 different people (including the actualy users). I've set them up as shared calendars with a group that has full-control permissions. I then assigned all 4 users to this group, shared the two calendars in question, and mapped them on all remaining users. Finally, in smartersync I simply set up multiple accounts to sync each of the calendars.

 The problem is that on one of the users, every time she syncs it duplicates ALL existing entries. The other calendar appears OK, but this one is driving me NUTS

Any suggestions?

I'm also experiencing this with Outlook 2007 and Windows XP.

 When you sync from the Outlook 2007 machine you get a message about "All Appointments have been removed" Click Yes, No, Cancel. If you click Yes and proceed some items get duplicated on the shared calendar.

I am having the same problem has there been any update to this problem?

Ditto... I have multiple users all sharing a calendar resource. All have update rights and all sync Outlook 2003 with the calendar. We're getting many duplicate events.

We are having similar issues.  Mixed Outlook 2003/2007, XP/Vista environment.

It appears to me ...since there hasn't been a single response from SmarterTools...that they don't support their tool set. My comment is from October. And not a word... maybe I should stick with Google Mail.

This is true. We actually paid for a telephone support ticket on this a few months ago and all I ever got back was a few emails basically telling me they didn't know why we were having the problem. I had to stop using it for a number of users and switch them to Windows Live calendar.

 

Sounds like the users are using the "Add to Outlook" from the webmail in addition to SmarterMail Sync. I've seen this cause many copies of the same appointments when people are sharing calendars.

Our users generally do not use webmail, and they wouldn't know or think to use the add to outlook functionality.  I think this is happening when they get confused during the sync process which copy of the appointment (SM or Outlook) they should use when there is a conflict.

This is the body of an email from one of my clients with the same issue:

"I am having a serious issue with the Smarter Mail Sync and having trouble finding a resolution. It seems that it doesn’t like group meeting requests. What happens is that if a meeting request is accepted, it logs it into the Outlook calendar. Good--- until later… When I sync it duplictes and duplicates these calendar events over and over. We finally stopped everyone syncing with the calendar to try and clean that event off of everyone’s caledner. Cant do it… The one we are having issues with at the moment is a Feb 1 conference call. I cleaned the appt off my clander (over 100 entries), then logged into the web mail server and deleted the same entries off of that calendar. Both calelnders were clean----yet when I synced----these 100+ event entries came back… ?????????????"

 To eliminate the issue, as a quick fix, I had to delte the user and re-establish that user to wip out the 100's (yes, there were 100's of dupes on one day) of dupliceted event listings.

In his case this seems triggered by acceptance of an invitaiton into Outlook that is later synched.

Any help is appreciated.

Has this gotten any better in SM 5?  We love the mail tools, but calendaring really is leaving us in a lurch. 

I've got some people it's happening to now also, without using the Send to Outlook. It seems to only happen on the accounts that have multiple people checking them, such as the CEO of our company and his assistant. A solution to this would be greatly appreciated. He already has me looking into switching us back to Exchange.

 But I'm pretty sure it's because I first tried syncing SM with Outlook, and then tried to sync with my Moto Q after that. It appears that it considers contacts or appointments different objects if they come from another source, other than smartermail. I need a way to "delete all" and start over from one source.

 

 Calendars can get very convoluted if you do not watch how you share your calendars and what calendars you Sync.
