Auto Response - when does it run?

It appears like the auto response is running on messages that come in before they are checked by the spam filters.  Users are getting backup undeliverable messages that are from their out of the office messages.  Also, today (a Sunday) one user sent 93 messages and they have not used their email today and they only had 10 messages in their inbox that were new for the day.

Is it possible to have the auto response only run against messages that make it to the Inbox?  Are others having this same issue?

     Thanks,

     Chris

I asked pretty much the same thing almost a month ago, no answers yet.

I have a similar question/issue as you and Dv, but regarding greylisting.

I have greylisting enabled for a domain or account.  Someone greylist hasn't passed yet sends something that is delayed pending retry, but they will receive the autoresponse immediately.

I say this is either a bug, or a feature that needs to be improved.

    The processing order should be:

    1. Whitelist *ALWAYS* is processed first.  *NEVER* greylist or spam-handle these addresses.
    2. Spam Rules
    3. Content Filter Rules
    4. Autoresponder

This matches the end user expectation of how it works.

This behavior is definitely not sounding correct.

Greylisting happens prior to the email data even making it to the server. Just after the RCPT TO: SMTP Command. If an IP is Whitelisted for Greylisting, then any email coming from that IP won't even go through the greylisting process. The same for Trusted Senders. If a user is in the Trusted Sender, it doesn't go through the greylisting process.

The Autoresponder fires off when the message makes it to the Inbox. If you look in the Delivery Log you will see this behavior.

If your server is not behaving in this fashion, then our Support team would be glad to help you in troubleshooting this further. We would then need a support incident opened and we can begin the process.

How do you get it not to auto respond to messages marked as spam? I've been waiting for this feature since I was told it would be in the next minor release back in the 1.X days.
