Hi

Since upgrading to Version 4.3 we have a problem with the Anti-Spam Engine in that about once a day the memory usage goes up and incoming messages sit in the spool with the status "Awaiting Spam Check"

The only way I can fix this is to turn SPAM Checking off totally.

 Is anyone able to make a suggestion as to how to solve this please. We need our SPAM Checking working, it was one of our major attractions when we made the decision to switch to Smartermail.

 We aer running of Server 2003

What is your server config?

The more spam coming through and shorter the delivery delay, the more resources it will require. We run a dual Xeon with 2GB Ram and it seems quite comfortable with the amount of mail coming through, so my first thought would be restrictive resources.

I take your point. However I dont think thats the case with this one. The maximum service memory has been floating about 56 mb but I notice has just grown to 121 mb We also had no issue with Version 4.0

We are receiving about 6000 messages a day, (many are SPAM), and the server utilisation is very low, with lots of memory available

It's not multithreaded, eats RAM and has issue under load. We chose not to run it because of those issues. It takes some work but you can tweak the other spam fighting tools in SM to work very well.
