    Thanks for the reply.

     I'm not sure where to specify the broadcasted IP.  My understanding is that any IP chosen has to be bound to the NIC or 127.0.0.1 loopback.

    Re: Cant mail to Hotmail or Yahoo

    I am also having problems since moving my hosting to new servers/IP,  some yahoo emails go through right away (Usually at night) and others bounce back.

     =====

    Could not deliver message to the following recipient(s):

    Failed Recipient: bryweb@yahoo.com

    Reason: Remote host said: 421 Message from (66.196.##.###) temporarily deferred - 4.16.50. Please refer to http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/defer/defer-06.html

    =====

    Yahoo whitelisted my IP before but now refuse too because I host multiple domains under (1) IP - this was their reply;

    =====

    Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Mail.

    We cannot systematically exempt your mailings from our SpamGuard technology since the IP address of the server appears to be a shared domain mail host and have multiple clients sending email. We will maintain the current information in our database as it is configured.

    This allows delivery of your mailings to oscillate between the Inbox and the Bulk Mail folder as Yahoo! users choose.

    Please keep in mind that our SpamGuard technology will continually monitor user feedback pertaining to emails coming from your mail server(s), and as such, the user feedback we receive will be one of the factors that influence where your emails are most appropriately delivered. Our studies have indicated that when users see messages incorrectly categorized, they notify us within hours of delivery.

    We do recommend that if you maintain several clients or company lists (especially for an ISP/ASP/ESP) to segregate your clients to different IP addresses. This ensures that users are marking each company on its own merits. User notifications to us may become hazy should they see both spam and legitimate mail from the same IP. In cases like these, the end result will likely be that spam will override the legitimate mail.

    If you implement significant changes to your mailing practices, feel free to contact us again. You may refer to the Help page below for some information and general guidelines that we have found to be effective in maintaining good mailing lists:

     This Sucks since they whitelisted me before and I had no problems.

    Most mail server admins went through this phase of 421 errors with Yahoo.

    We installed DK and it seems to have solved the problem, its been quiet for about a month or so now.

    I personally feel it is irresponsible for a webhost to assign an IP for each client , I am not alone, and yet Yahoo condones such beahavior, absurd!! Guess will just have to go to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ip ranges next. : /

    Free email sucks, all of them. They are the cause of most of the spam problems, email scams and fraud, yet they still feel it necessary to block legitimate hosts mail from "their" network. Go figure.

    I've modified the smtp out IP to the public IP that is being used for the NAT in mailconfig.xml.  I didn't see anywhere else that I could make this change that you suggested.

    Could you confirm if I am making the correct change on this?

    Thanks for your insight.

    I had this problem also and remember having the same issue before I migrated from Mailenable. I believe Hotmail, Yahoo, etc. are also using graylisting on their servers. To remedy this I changed the outbound spool retry time interval. I think the default settings are like 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 60 minutes.

    I changed them to 1 minute, 2 minutes, 10 minutes, 60 minutes. Since then I haven't had any complaints from users about mail not getting delivered to hotmail, yahoo, etc...

    Frustrating. Opened a ticket with Smarter Support.

    SPF, RDNS, and Hostname all seem fine.

    It's not SmarterMail's fault. I had the problem with SLMail, and it persisted when I switched to SmarterMail. I could reply to hotmail, but sending mail it just vanished, no bounce, no junk folder, no nothing. I created a live.com account (just like hotmail), verified the problem existed, and then contacted microsoft support. They resolved it within a week.
