i tried setting up inbuilt DomainKey of SM but it gives me DNS test fail

You have probably not configured it correctly.

dev_shah:
Should i enable SPF also?

Using SPF is always a good idea.

dev_shah:
Should i try & use inbuilt DomainKey of SM or the one built you?

Either one is fine once you get it working.

dev_shah:
Will this resolve YAHOO issue forever?

No. Using DomainKeys helps, but it is not enough in and of itself. Yahoo may deffer messages even if you comply with all their requests.

Re: DKeyEvent SM 0.3.3

Hello,

I have been using DKeyEvent for about 8 months and for some reason it suddenly stopped working. Im not sure what happened, i looked at the logs and i do not see any error.
I tried reinstalling DKeyEvent and re issuing a new key and new selector and im still unable to sign outgoing emails. The DK headers does not show up when i look for them.

My main concern is to sign outgoing emails.

IM using mailenable 1.981 and DKeyEvent 0.4.8

Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Edit: forgot to add, im using Plesk 8.4.0

Edit2: Another thing i have just tried, DKIM was not working neither, now i tried enabling domain impersonation on DKIM for the domain i want to start signing outgoing email and it works, if i remove domain impersonation it does not work anymore. Unfortunately DomainKeys does not have domain impersonation setting.

Thanks!

Re: DKeyEvent SM - DomainKeys/DKIM plugin [v 0.3.3]

Hi everyone!
I have trouble setting up a Win2003 server. I' ve followed the video tut (thanks!) but keep getting this error with nslookup:

C:>nslookup
Default Server: ns1.cartagon.net
Address: 85.238.5.5
> set type=txt
> main._domainkey.burlingtonbooks.es
Server: ns1.cartagon.net
Address: 85.238.5.5
*** ns1.cartagon.net can't find main._domainkey.burlingtonbooks.es: Non-existent domain

When I tell nslookup to use the server as DNS everything is fine:

> server burlingtonbooks.es
Default Server: burlingtonbooks.es
Address: 85.238.2.18
> main._domainkey.burlingtonbooks.es
Server: burlingtonbooks.es
Address: 85.238.2.18
main._domainkey.burlingtonbooks.es text = "k=rsa; t=y; p=MHwwDQYJKoZIhvcNAQ...B"

Since I'm a noob there must be something quite trivial I forgot about.
Anyone? Thanks in advance!

You probably added the key to your local DNS server, and not to the real (public) DNS server of domain 'burlingtonbooks.es'.

Thanks someone_else!

The machine is a blade server hosted in a data center. Do I have to ask the guys there to add my key to their DNS servers?

(This is probably a quite stupid question, sorry)

Whoever manages your domain's DNS (its A records, MX, etc) must also publish the key.

Re: DKeyEvent SM - DomainKeys/DKIM plugin [v 0.3.3]

orry for my noob questions. I didn't know it would make any difference what the default name server for an IP was.

We are thinking about using the default Win2003 DNS services instead of relying on our hoster to do all the changes - or is this a bad idea?

They would just have to change these, right?

name: burlingtonbooks.es
nsdname: ns2.cartagon.net
ttl: 3585

name: burlingtonbooks.es
nsdname: ns1.cartagon.net
ttl: 3585

Thanks again!

Re: DKeyEvent SM 0.3.3

I'm running SM 5.5 in conjunction with SpamTitan and I do not use any of the spam filtering services that are integrated in SM, will I still be able to use DKeyEvent?

Thanks,

Mark

As long as SpamTitan is not modifying messages, then there should be no problem.

Re: DKeyEvent SM 0.3.3

In what sense is a message considered modified?

I guess SpamTitan does add a few lines to the header information regarding Spam Scores and Virus Status. But I also do use SpamTitan as the outgoing relay server

X-Virus-Scanned: by SpamTitan at domain.net
X-Spam-Flag: NO
X-Spam-Score: 0.425
X-Spam-Level:
X-Spam-Status: No, score=0.425 tagged_above=-999 required=6
tests=[BAYES_00=-2.599, DKIM_SIGNED=0.001, DKIM_VERIFIED=-0.001,
HTML_IMAGE_ONLY_16=1.526, HTML_MESSAGE=0.001,
MIME_BASE64_BLANKS=0.041, MIME_HTML_ONLY=1.457, SPF_PASS=-0.001]

Adding headers is not a problem. There is only a problem if it modifies the existing headers or the message itself, in which case DomainKeys signatures might fail (since they rely on cryptographic hashes of the original message).

Yahoo Mail shows my received mail has having DKIM = pass, but shows DomainKeys = neutral. How would I fix this?

Activate DomainKeys or make sure that it is signing. See the FAQ for reasons why it might not.
