    Re: DKeyEvent SM - DomainKeys/DKIM plugin [v 0.3.2]

    Sorge:
After many tests and changes etc I'm starting to think there may be problems at the reflector of sendmail and not my own settings. Could you (or anyone else who knows their settings are ok) try out 'sendmail' and verify if it works for your own settings please.

There could be a problem with the Sendmail reflector, but my own messages pass validation, so there is no problem between DKeyEvent itself and the Sendmail reflector. There could be something about your setup which it does not like.

Thanks for your reply and taking the time to test via sendmail:

How long did it take to get your reply back from them, my suggestion that there may be problems with sendmails reflector could be true, as replies are taking 4 hours plus or even not being returned at all to my domain and others I have access to.

(Thought: Do they 'blacklist' after say 20 email tests over three days)

Further prior to this current 'delay' situation, sendmail returned a result for my domain (without my settings being altered) as being GOOD for DKIM also!

I'm only putting this forward as others may be getting failures via sendmail reflector, and thinking it's their settings are wrong.

    Hope some of this helps.

    Re: DKeyEvent SM 0.3.2

Thanks for creating this plug-in, this really simplifies things.

I watched the video for instaling Domain Keys. That was simple enough and I see DomainKeys domainkeys=pass (ok) in the header of my test email.

I was also told to add DKIM, which I did. I used the same domain and selector name for DKIM as I did for DomainKeys.

I am unsure if I now need to add another DNS record, and if so, what are the exact steps for that? I do not see this in the documentation.

I tried sending after adding DKIM without adding a new DNS record and got the following headers and it is unclear from these if the DKIM failed:

The steps for setting up DKIM are exactly the same as with DomainKeys, and as previously mentioned, you can use the same key/selector for both. If you 'create' a selector for which a key already exists, DKeyEvent will recognize that you want to double it, and will not create a new key. That way, you only need to set up one DNS record (though, of course, you can create different ones, if you wish).

Note that Yahoo does not currently verify DKIM, though. You'll need to test your signatures on one of the verifiers listed on the first page of this topic.

    Re: DKeyEvent SM 0.3.2

Newbie question. I have a SM4 server with over 300 domains and use a dedicated outbound SM4 as a gateway server with a single IP to deliver the mail. Will this work with in this setup? Do I need to install the product on both the primary mail server and the outbound mail server?

Also, is automation of this process possible so new customer domains can have this functionality added automatically?

     Thanks!

    Re: DKeyEvent SM 0.3.2

    1. In a scenario with multiple transmission hops, DKeyEvent only needs to run once - a message only needs one signature. If you want to use DomainKeys, you'll need to run DKeyEvent on the server which actually hosts the user accounts.

    2. Automation is possible, but you'll need to implement it yourself.

how much would this app slow down my delivery for 30-50k messages an hour?

do you have to increase smtp delivery delay?

do i have to adjust any throttling or will things figure itself out?

That depends on your system, your configuration and the kind of messages - larger messages take more time to hash. So there's really no way to know until you try it.

    No.

    Re: DKeyEvent SM - DomainKeys/DKIM plugin [v 0.3.2]

DKeyEvent will only work when the senders have real accounts on the SM server on which DKeyEvent is running; it will not work on relays. You'll also need to ensure that the claimed sender (in the message header) matches the SMTP authentication user.

how can i make an account on the sm server... when the campaign software is only campaigns.etradepress.com in the headers?... is this ok? it uses smtp authenticated accounts on sm...

so campaign enterprise... you choose your id, pass for a sm account and the server like mail.cleanhound.com then login/pass... is this ok? or doesthe machine itself (relay) need to be an account too? is that possible?

Does anyone know if DKEvent SM works on Windows Server 2008? Doesn't say either way on their website.

It should work just fine, but it has not been extensively tested.

Great thanks!. The only thing I'm confused about is the selector. If I'm setting up multiple domains, should I use the same selector for each domain? or should each domain have a unique selector. If so, what is recommended as a selector name?

    Thanks
