Well, I've never heard of this happening before, so it must be something peculiar to your setup. Something might be locking the temporary files, or there might be some confusion in the SM spool. If you're using SMSpamC, try the built-in client in SmarterMail instead.

I use smartermail 3 so I do not believe there is a built in client.

Well then, you'll have to do some troubleshooting. Something like FileMon will show you what's happening in the SmarterMail spool, so that's your best bet of finding out what's happening there.

Turns out it had nothing to do with SAVASM or SMSPAMC.  It was just some bad outlook rule filters causing it. So far this has been running great!

Installed two new SAVASM VMs and configured, including the SPAM/HAM shares and mail appears to be getting tagged properly but when I login to the SAVASM server and select "Spam Assassin Mail Filter" from the servers list, I do not see the statistics area that was on the previous version.

Did that option get removed? Did I forget to configure something? I know it was there before...

Right, sorry about that. Seems that the last Webmin update removed the custom menus. I will be uploading an updated image tomorrow, but until then, here's how to reactivate them:

1. Download this file to your computer

2. Log in to Webmin 

3. Go to Others -> Upload and Download, and in the Upload files to server menu

- under Files to Upload select the file you just downloaded

- under File or directory to upload to enter /usr/libexec/webmin/spam/

- under Extract ZIP or TAR files? select Yes, then delete

- click on Upload

You should then have the Statistics and Startup Parameters icons in the SpamAssassin menu.

Is there somewhere is SAVASM that will have a spool? The reason I ask is there has been alot of mail being delivered 2 days later. All the mail is always flagged as spam by SAVASM and mail that is sent to me today will make it to my inbox right away as long as it is not spam and sometimes even if it is spam.  I cant figure out where all of it is coming from because smartermail spool is almost always empty it is not full of mail from 2 days ago.

I will be trying to install this on an ESX 3.0.2 server, but i cannot tell from any of the descriptions whether or not this VA (virtual appliance) uses a SCSI or IDE disk. If its IDE, it wont run on ESX.

If the current VA uses IDE, how long do you think it might take to clone the install to a vmdk that is type SCSI for use in more robust virtual environments?

Just pulled down the latest build, and the extract of the .vmdk file didnt work.

DL'ing again ... would be nice if you added an MD5 checksum file(sig) to check against.

just completed another download and CRC failed on the vmdk file again.

I guess i will try to get the zip file from the MUCH (factor of 7) slower mirror 2 source

SAVASM does not have a spool. Connections to it are made in real-time, and if they would take a long time to process, your SpamAssassin client would time out (and SmarterMail would deliver the message without processing).

The SAVASM image uses SCSI. Of course, you can put in on a VMWare Server and modify its 'hardware', if you wish; most hardware changes are painless (to the CentOS core).

CRC for the file on mirror1 is 'B003F45B' and MD5 is '431733C5CF94E8A684CEB419D35B9A76'. Note that the file on mirror1 is different from the one on mirror2; the latter is the original 0.1.8 release, whereas the former is the updated version with restored stats menu (see the post above).

I know these mirrors aren't exactly great, but they're all I have at the moment. If anyone wishes to offer a mirror, by all means. 

I did setup the DL from mirror 2 (T1 DL speed for the most part), and went to bed. I did a test extraction before getting it up to the ESX box and it completed successfully. Next stop, ESX at the colo.

The performance of the first mirror is quite good, and i didnt mean to sound ungrateful. If i had free bandwidth to offer I would be first in line to offer it up as an additional mirror.

 Thank you for all your effort in maintaining this project for the last few years. I am looking forward to digging into it.

I am new to SAVASM & have been referred, we have around 100+ domains on our single SM4 box, i was told that i should disable internal Spam Assassin as the load is high, & should look at SAVAMS as a alternate option, please if someone can reply my queries

Can i install SAVASM with VM Ware server on my existing live dedicated SM4 box/win2k3?

I've disabled internal ClamAV & SpamAssian, can SAVASM give me better results? [I guess yes, as per various posts]

Is it tough to maintain SAVASM on existing box, i don't have knowhow on linux, Windows has been great for us so far

can i uninstall SAVASM if things dont work out?

is it maintenance free?
