    Re: SAVASM 0.1.7

I too converted from VMware to Virtual Server and it worked beautifully.

I have hooked up SA and ClamAV to use the virtual now, but for some reason im not seeing the SA results in the SM System dashboard.
SA has a weight of 30 and low spam is set to 30, so if its found as spam in SA it should be flagged right? I can see it in the Spam stats from webadmin but not in SM dashboard.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Low Spam at 30?? Thats too high, most spam is 10-16, I set Low Spam to 6, Medium to 15, High to 30 in SmarterMail.  I have it move Low to Junk, Medium delete and High delete

    Re: SAVASM 0.1.7

Problem most of my customers POP their email so they dont see their junk mail.

Also had too many complaints in the past about people wanting spam so now I only brand the subject line so they can set up the rules in outlook or I set it up to delete for them.

I was just wondering how SM interperates the SA score. dose it just half it or something? as from what i've seen it dosent use the exact score.

    Thanks

I'm finding that sometimes the 'spamassasin' service is stopped, if I do a PS -aux there is no spamd and uptime shows 0.00 cpu usage!  I have to 'service spamassassin start'.  Anyone have an idea on how to keep this service running?

Included in SAVASM is monit, a service monitor daemon which is preconfigured to keep an eye on SpamAssassin and restart it should it happen to fail. Quoting from this post:

"By default monit is configured to only monitor spamd; clamd configuration is defined, but not enabled by default. Also, by default, monit itself is not enabled. The monit daemon usually takes up about 15 MB of memory, so the decision of whether to enable it or not is up to you, based on your needs and available resources. Monit can be enabled from Webmin -> System -> Bootup and Shutdown."

    Memory %

Congrlts. for this work. I want to have this on my box also. But wondering how much ram does it beat? I have Xeon 2.8 Dual 2 GB Ram 400 domains. I do not want it to eat much memory.

    Thank you

    Re: Memory %

As mentioned in the first post in this topic, the default SAVASM image is configured for 256 MB RAM, but you can adjust it to whatever you want.

    Re: SAVASM 0.1.7

Sorry if this has been asked before, but how do I get Smartermail to display the ClamAV Version Info?
Its working fine as its picking up viruses, but the version show up Unable to obtain virus definitions for a disabled or remote ClamAV server.

    Installed this today, TOP JOB

This has helped no end as now my quue can be processed quicker, the only question I have is that before I ran this and simply used SA that came with SM I always got similar headers to this:

     X-SmarterMail-Spam: SPF_None, SpamAssassin -5.75 [raw: -2.3]

now all I get since the install is this in the header:

     X-SmarterMail-Spam: SPF_Pass or X-SmarterMail-Spam: SPF_None

Should I also not see the score?

is there a setting in the VM I need to change?

Also get more spam that before, perhaps I need to set up the spam and ham folders from smarter mail?

If you're not seeing a SpamAssassin score, that will probably mean that you're not properly set up, and SA is not being used. I'd check the SmarterMail and SpamAssassin logs to see what's up.

I know you say the VM has ClamAV installed and set up and running, to get SM to use that on the VM instead of the local version, do I simply change it under the anti-virus admin within SM or will it be scanned for virussses when its sent to Spam Assassinb on the VM?

    Does that make sense?

SAVASM uses ClamAV as a SpamAssassin plugin so mail is scanned after reaching SA. You can, of course, use the ClamAV daemon directly from SM, but then you should disable the ClamAV plugin in SA. I generally don't like this method because this way you're streaming all messages twice (between SM and SAVASM), which hardly seems efficient to me.
