SmarterMail’s Web-based administration allows companies to manage all aspects of the mail server from a single
interface. Unique features such as throttling, dynamic spool prioritization, archiving, and mass propagation

SmarterMail has the ability for system-wide email archiving which can be configured independently for each
domain. SmarterMail’s archiving feature compresses all inbound and outbound email messages daily for efficient
archival storage. This is an important feature for companies that need to keep records of inbound and outbound
communication for compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and other regulatory requirements.
Throttling allows the number of messages, amount of bandwidth, and/or the number of bounced messages to be
limited for domains, users, or mailing lists over a given amount of time. Used in conjunction with SmarterMail’s
event-driven architecture, actions can be automated to prevent abuse in real-time.
Email delivery can be more effectively managed by setting priorities based upon email types. For example,
mailing lists and other process-intensive emails can be assigned a lower priority, allowing regular emails
to process first and avoid unnecessary delays. Emailed notifications can also be assigned higher priority
to ensure that important information is delivered in a timely fashion.
SmarterMail was designed to support easy administration and automation. Through the use of Web services, companies
can integrate SmarterMail with external applications such as control panels to reduce costs and automate
tasks, including:

- Determining domain-specific bandwidth usage for billing
- Setting details on a specific domain or server
- Setting up mailboxes

SmarterMail makes reviewing log files quick and efficient by eliminating the need for multiple tools or

users more quickly by being able to view logs using the SmarterMail Web interface or by downloading them as
